Doggy Daycare

Working all day or just simply don’t want to leave your pet at home? Here at Barktown, we provide day long recreation playing in our daycare program! You can drop your pooch off with us on your way to work in the morning for a day full of fun! While you work away, your little buddy will be having a blast playing with all of their besties, leaving them relaxed and ready to spend a calm evening at home with you. We currently offer daycare at Barktown Killen, with a new location coming this summer to Sheffield, AL!

Barktown is a "free play" facility, meaning daycare dogs get to play together all day long under the watchful eye of our kennel attendants! This means that all dogs must be friendly with other dogs and people. They will make many new friends in free play who they will love to see again and again. Throughout the day, the dogs are out in common play yards with other dogs with matching size and temperament.

DAYCARE REQUIREMENTS

Barktown welcomes dogs of all ages with records that your pet is current on the Rabies, Bordetella, & Distemper/Parvo vaccinations. All dogs must pass a temperament test before admittance to our daycare program. During temperament testing, your dog will be taken into the daycare area. We will test them out with different playgroups with varying sizes & energy levels. We keep our temp tests calm to provide a gentle environment for your dog's first daycare experience.

We will be looking for good & playful body language, signs of resource guarding behaviors, & anxiety or aggression towards staff or other dogs. Overall, we will be looking for positive interactions to determine your pet's perfect play group fit!

If your dog displays questionable behavior, we may require additional testing or trial days before admittance into our daycare program. If your dog displays aggression towards other dogs or staff, they will not be permitted to return for daycare. Group play isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay!

Temperament testing does require an appointment. If your dog has a positive experience, they will be welcome to return for daycare. Owners are not allowed in the temp test area for their own safety & the safety of other dogs.
